Role profile
Reporting to the Store Owner, Operations Manager you will ensure the store operates efficiently and effectively and provides customers with the very best customer service and fresh food offering at all times. To deliver on key store targets (sales and profitability) through effective management of people and operations.
Duties include but not limited to
• Always ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority by greeting each customer as if it’s their first visit to the store and consistently deliver an exceptional service;
• Oversee and ensure the smooth running of the store by prioritising and delegating the workload appropriately;
• Develop and promote good communication between employees and management in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment;
• Foster good working relationships among the team and with local community;
• Hold regular management meetings and communicate relevant details and results to the team;
• Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition and encouragement;
• Manage and maintain HR records for employees; ensuring confidentiality and privacy;
• Effectively performance manage employees as required;
• Deal with all customer queries and complaints politely, professionally and consistent with store policy;
• Implement planograms correctly and ensure the correct range is in place in store;
• Have a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation as it pertains to the Store, in particular but not limited to, Food Safety regulations, Health & Safety regulations, sale of alcohol and employment legislation;
• Ensure the store is compliant with the relevant legislation and implement procedures as required;
• Ensuring all HACCP best practices are implemented across the store;
• Achieve Emerald status in EIQA;
• Achieve Service Excellence in your mystery shop reports;
• Ensure adherence to Store rules, policies and procedures;
• Ensure the adequate timekeeping and attendance of employees;
• Manage employee rostering and annual leave and maintain accurate and secure records;
• Set, monitor and achieve sales targets with the team on gross profit margin, net margin, waste and other KPIs as agreed with Store Owner;
• Control stocktaking and overheads as per annual budget;
• Ensure merchandising and presentation of entire store is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines;
• Implement policies to gain operational efficiencies i.e. Gold reports/scanning information etc.;
• Deliver and achieve Retail Excellence Standards;
• Attend relevant conferences and seminars as directed by Store Owner;
• Engage with new initiatives and embrace new ways of working;
• Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time.
Key Requirements:-
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior management position (either as an Assistant Manager or Store Manager);
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word);
• Working knowledge of the CBE system is desirable;
• Strong knowledge and experience of reading and actioning reports;
• Previous experience with leading a team;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Good delegation skills;
• Highly driven with a strong work ethic;
• An understanding of how to achieve KPIs and targets;
• Commerciality and brand awareness;
• Passion for grocery retail;
• Thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
• Organised, self-driven, excellent attention to detail and use own initiative;
• Approachable and a role model who leads by example and encourages teamwork, foster a positive attitude and atmosphere in the workplace;
