Prisoners from both HMP Highpoint and HMP Lewes have benefited from prison employment events, attended by members of the 3D Personnel Team
The events were arranged by Karen Mackey and held at HMP Highpoint in Cambridgeshire and HMP Lewes in East Sussex.
Both construction employment events were organised to offer prisoners a path back to employment, following their participation on training courses, which enabled them to get their CSCS Card for work on construction sites.
A Strong Partnership with Karen Mackey Consultants
Following on from previous engagements with our client Willmott Dixon and their ‘Ready for the Gate’ campaign, we were introduced to other partners, including Karen Mackey Consultants. Karen Mackey works with the Prison Service in Kent and Sussex and has become a great partner for 3D Personnel. Karen arranged both of these invaluable events, where on each occasion over 30 prisoners were looking to take the next step in their rehabilitation.
Stuart meets prisoners at HMP Highpoint
Representing 3D Personnel at the HMP Highpoint event in Cambridgeshire in early October 2023 was Stuart Douglas, a Commercial Manager from our Colchester office. Stuart will be on hand to offer advice and to make arrangements for follow up consultations with participants from this event, on their release from prison.
This event and our ongoing work with the prison and probation services also forms part of our ongoing commitment to 'back to work in construction' initiatives like #BantheBox
Accessing the CSCS Card qualification can often be the first step on the process of integrating fully back into society.
Oran meets prisoners at HMP Lewes
Oran Blaney, a Commercial Manager based in our London office, was on hand to talk and offer advice to prisoners at the HMP Lewes event. The participants, having already gained their CSCS Card qualification, were eager to discuss options for work in the construction sector after their release from prison. Oran chatted to and interviewed all the prisoners with an interest in construction roles. Once the participants are released, plans are in place for follow up calls, with the ultimate goal of arranging work placements for all suitable candidates.
Oran had this reaction to the employment event:
We met and interviewed over 30 prisoners who have recently got their CSCS Cards in Prison. As always, it was a great experience meeting so many people from different backgrounds, who are invested in starting/continuing a career in construction upon their release. We at 3D Personnel look forward to assisting them with their goals.
